The External Manufacturing Procurement Manager, a member of the Global Manufacturing Procurement organization, supports the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and Dry Products External Manufacturing Networks. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing the category sourcing strategies that enable Lilly\u2019s Manufacturing organization to engage external contract manufacturing organizations (CMO) to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients and dry drug products. Activities include sourcing, negotiating, contracting, reporting, and networking across procurement, finance, manufacturing, quality, technical services, legal, and other areas involved in managing external CMO.<\/p>\n
Key Objectives \/ Deliverables:
\n\u2022 Support procurement activities and provide commercial leadership for raw materials, intermediates, API, and dry products with external contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
\n\u2022 Develop, execute, and maintain supplier strategy through sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiation, contract management, risk management, and cost management.
\n\u2022 Provide market intelligence to support sourcing strategies.
\n\u2022 Conduct spend analytics and prepare various reports.
\n\u2022 Understand commercial strategy, governance processes, and business operational requirements.
\n\u2022 Work directly and closely with manufacturing functional leadership, manufacturing support areas, and governance teams to ensure continuity of supply while maintaining an efficient cost-effective supply chain.
\n\u2022 Partner with Finance and Supply Chain to ensure smooth and accurate hand-offs between negotiated agreements and the associated SAP activities (PO setup, Material Costing, etc.).
\n\u2022 Manage supplier relationships with key global suppliers to establish and maintain relationships, influence the continuity of a reliable continuous supply chain, and establish or maintain an efficient cost-effective supply chain. This includes leadership of both the executive and operational level governance programs which require interaction with high level management and technical resources internal and external to Lilly.
\n\u2022 Facilitate delivery of development pipeline, ensure reliability of commercially manufactured products, and perform risk mitigation activities from assessment of risk through development of risk mitigation strategies and implementation to execution of the annual supplier risk management process.<\/p>\n
Basic Requirements:
\n\u2022 Bachelors degree in a scientific, engineering, business, finance, supply chain, procurement or other related professional field
\n\u2022 At least 5 years of direct pharmaceutical experience
\n\u2022 Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and\/or visas for this role.<\/p>\n
Preferred Experience:
\n\u2022 At least 3 years of experience in procurement, external supply or manufacturing of relevant materials, or pharmaceutical manufacturing (operations, technical service\/material science, etc.)
\n\u2022 Previous experience working directly with suppliers in commercial, technical, or governance capacity
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to influence business decision making both internally & externally.
\n\u2022 Demonstrated business acumen, project management, presentation, and communication skills
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize the value between requirements, schedule, price, and quality<\/p>\n
Additional Preferences:
\n\u2022 Previous external manufacturing procurement or sourcing experience
\n\u2022 Previous negotiation experience
\n\u2022 Previous SAP or Ariba procurement experience
\n\u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, and PowerPoint
\n\u2022 Previous experience representing the business in the acquisition of goods or services.<\/p>\n

This position is located in Indianapolis, IN and reports into the Indianapolis-based Global Manufacturing Procurement organization.<\/p>\n
This is a full time position requiring flexibility to support sites in multiple time zones.<\/p>\n
Some periodic international travel to CMO, conferences, and Lilly sites is required (10%).<\/p>\n

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate\u2019s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
\n$57,750 – $129,800<\/p>\n
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
